Retirement Community Access Control Modernization

Client Type: Retirement Community

Client Overview

A large retirement community with over 1,000 residents requiring secure access control across 700 entry points.

The Challenge

The client operated an outdated on-premise access control system that was no longer supported and lacked modern features. With 700 access-controlled entry points serving over 1,000 residents, the system needed to be modernized to a cloud-based solution while maintaining security and operational continuity. The complexity of managing access across multiple buildings, common areas, and residential units required a comprehensive solution that could scale and integrate with existing infrastructure.

Our Solution

Stonos Solutions served as the consulting partner, managing the entire project lifecycle from discovery through commissioning. Our team conducted comprehensive discovery to understand existing infrastructure, operational requirements, and resident needs. We designed a modern cloud-based access control solution utilizing Schlage AD400s, ASSA Abloy IN220s, and IN100s.

Working closely with our manufacturing partners, we developed solutions to bridge legacy systems with modern cloud technology. We created detailed bill of materials, labor estimates, and project management plans. Our team handled all programming and commissioning, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to residents.

Project Scope

  • Discovery & Assessment: Comprehensive evaluation of existing systems and infrastructure
  • Design & Planning: Complete system design and integration planning
  • Bill of Materials: Detailed equipment specifications and procurement
  • Labor Estimates: Comprehensive project timeline and resource planning
  • Project Management: End-to-end coordination of installation and integration
  • Programming: Custom configuration and system programming
  • Commissioning: Full system testing and activation
  • Manufacturer Partnerships: Collaboration with Schlage and ASSA Abloy to solve integration challenges

Technologies & Systems

Schlage AD400s, ASSA Abloy IN220s, ASSA Abloy IN100s, Cloud-based access control platform

Results & Outcomes

The project successfully migrated the entire access control system from on-premise to cloud-based infrastructure. All 700 entry points were modernized with new hardware and integrated into a unified cloud platform. The new system provides enhanced security features, remote management capabilities, and improved scalability for future growth. The transition was completed with minimal disruption to daily operations and resident access.
